My time frame for a physical model of a guitar/bass from Mokafix Audio is about this time next year.I could be wrong, but exactly a year ago I was thinking to myself that this would be a 2-year-story, so perhaps my prediction shall come true, in that case it's only another year off, no really bad shit happening notwithstanding.
I think the only way to do vibrato properly is with physical modeling and that is something that Mokafix Audio is working towards. Sure, the vibrato could be done a bit better and maybe VIR2 will work towards better vibrato. They tried, that's the best thing anyone could do - try. But anyway, something can be said of the herculean effort that went into this virtual instrument that many would consider phenomenal. Or at least, a hell of a stepping stone to whatever the winner may be.Unfortunately such is the limitation of sampling. Get this fixed, and this company's got a winner. Destroys suspension of disbelief merely by invoking its necessity. Hearing a mellow blues on a hollow-body Gibson suddenly take on shades of wanksmanship, due to vibrato alone, is like watching a video of Gandhi, and seeing the face of Idi Amin swirl into focus momentarily whenever he says the word "is". The biggest flaw is that all vibrato, irrespective of guitar make, seems to invoke an Yngwie subroutine. Or at least, a hell of a stepping stone to whatever the winner may be.
Regardless of your ethical stance on such a process, you have to admit they've done a pretty damn good job. It is about removing middlemen and streamlining the process of commercial composition. This isn't targeted at engineers, bands, or the interface between them. But, fish and chips are tempting.Īnyway, just try to think of this plugin from the POV of its intended market audience. Not very good gambling odds when your meal ticket depends on your general ability to adapt to external demands. and for the admission fee, you could buy a cheap guitar, amp and have enough left over for fish and chips on the way home.With a great stroke of luck, the general crappiness of such a combo would be outshone by its eccentricity, making it "the perfect choice" for 1 out of 100 cues.
